Katzelkraft Robot Pets Card

Greetings! It's Tuesday, my day to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week is an Anything Goes week. I've been feeling blah due to dental work, the weather, and increasing decrepitude. So I decided to make a card with lots of rust with the Robot Dog Unmounted Red Rubber Solo Stamp and the Robot Cat Unmounted Red Rubber Solo Stamp by Katzelkraft. I also used a fabulous A5 Grunge Clocks and Grid Stencil/Mask by Studio Light.

Instructions:
  1. Make an A6 card from blue cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Using a stamping platform, position the Katzelkraft's Robot Dog and the Robot Cat stamps facedown centered horizontally and about one inch from the bottom of a white image panel. 
  3. Ink the stamps with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp. 
  4. Remove the image panel, place a piece of repositionable sticker paper on the platform, ink the stamps, and stamp again.
  5. Use Copic markers to color the Robot Dog and the Robot Cat
  6. Fussy-cut the repositionable sticker paper versions of the Robot Dog and the Robot Cat and place them over their counterparts on the image panel. 
  7. Place the image panel onto the STAY-tion and secure with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
  8. Place a piece of low-tack tape horizontally across the bottom of the image panel to cover the Robot Dog and the Robot Cat's paws/wheels and the bottom of the image panel.
  9. Sponge or brush Della Blue Elements Ink over the masked images and the low-tack tape to color the top part of the image panel. 
  10. Place the A5 Grunge Clocks and Grid Stencil/Mask atop the image panel and secure with low-tack tape and/or magnets.
  11. Sponge or brush Della Blue Elements Ink over the stencil and the masked images to add a tone on tone pattern to the background.
  12. Remove the stencil and reposition the low-tack tape so that it's covering the top part of the image panel. 
  13. Sponge or Twilight Dye Ink over the the tape onto the bottom of the image panel.
  14. Remove the masks and tape from the image panel. 
  15. Use a yellow alcohol marker to add a glow around the Robot Dog and Cat's bulbs.
  16.  Use a white gel pen to add highlights to their goggle lenses and their noses. 
  17. Use a Turquoise Stardust Glitter pen to add glitter to the tip of the Robot Dog's tail and the Robot Cat's ear tips.
  18. Die-cut the image panel with one of the dies from the A6 Layeres Die Set, then edge the image panel die-cut with Della Blue Elements Ink
  19. Cut a piece of patterned paper from the Rust and Relics Patterned Paper Pad, so that it's ⅛" larger than the image panel and edge with a rust-colored Copic marker. 
  20. Adhere the card to the reserved blue A6 card.
Notes:
  • It's great fun to add rust and patina to "metal" objects like the  Robot Dog and the Robot Cat. I usually err on the side of "more is more" when it comes to that. I do love me some rust and/or patina.
  • I have a bunch of friends' birthdays coming up, but I haven't decided who needs to reminded that they're rusting. I have to search my stash for some suitable snarky sentiments. Otherwise, I'll computer generate one.

Best Fishes

Greetings! It's Tuesday so it's time to share a project created for Topflight Stamps. This week we're showcasing PaperArtsy's wonderful products. Since it's been very hot, I've been wanting to go to the beach, but creating a slimline card beach scene with PaperArtsy's Kate Crane (KC006) Rubber Cling Stamp Set, the Kate Crane Mini 007 (KCM007) Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp, and the Kate Crane Mini 008 (KCM008) Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp Set is as close as I can get at the moment. The background was created with Mattint and Fresco Finish Acrylic Matte Glaze.

Instructions:
  1. Create a slimline card from grey cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the fishhead-man from the Kate Crane (KC006) Rubber Cling Stamp Seonto Copic-friendly paper. 
  3. Fussy-cut the image, color with Copic markers, and edge with a black marker. Set aside.
  4. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and a stamping platform to stamp the big fish from the Kate Crane Mini 008 (KCM008) Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp and the five fish from the Kate Crane Mini 007 (KCM007) Cling Mounted Rubber Stam onto an 8½" x 3½" panel of Bristol Paper. True confession time, I cut my Kate Crane Mini 007 (KCM007) Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp to separate the fish from one another.
  5. Use Copic markers to color all the fish on the panel of Bristol Paper. 
  6. Use a paint brush to apply Fresco Finish Acrylic Matte Glaze over the Copic-colored fish to seal them. *
  7. Shake the DragonflyGreenstone, and River Deep Mattints well, add a dime-sized amount of each color Mattint to the craft mat, then use make-up sponges to apply the Mattints horizontally over the fish until the panel is tinted to your liking. Let dry. Warning: Be sure to have a relatively dust-free, cat-fur free crafting area. *
  8. Use the second largest die from the Slimline Layers Die Set to cut the stamped background panel. 
  9. Edge the image panel die-cut with Watering Can Archival Ink. 
  10. Use the largest die to cut greyish/purple cardstock and use that die-cut to mat the image panel die-cut. 
  11. Adhere the matted image panel to the reserved grey slimline card.
  12. Adhere the stamped, colored, and fussy-cut fishhead-man as shown.
  13. Cut a strip of ink jet vellum and back with two-sided tape. 
  14. Use Black StazOn ink to stamp the "best fishes" sentiment onto vellum and let dry.
  15. Use a speech bubble die to cut the sentiment.
  16. Trim the top of the speech buttle die-cut, then adhere as shown to finish the card.
Notes:
  • I tested the Fresco Finish Acrylic Matte Glaze to see if it would smear, smudge, bleed, or otherwise mess up images that were stamped with Memento onto Bristol Paper and colored with Copic markers. The only problem that I encountered was with the dreaded red Copics and images where the Copics hadn't sunk into the paper and had left that gummy surface. Those images smeared and smudged. 
  • I plan further experiments with the Fresco Finish Acrylic Matte Glaze on Copic-colored images to see whether I can use translucent Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints to create backgrounds. I probably will try the Matte Glazed Copic-colored images with my other acrylic paints as well. I'll keep you posted. 
  • I was able to apply Mattints over the Matte Glazed Copic-colored images which left a slight tint over them, which was what I wanted. 
  • The Mattints warped the Bristol Paper slightly, so it might be best to tape the edges down prior to applying them.
  • Additionally, since Mattints can be used to adhere things, dust/dirt from my craft area and cat fur migrated onto my project. I was able to remove, some-not all of it. Alas.
  • Retrospectively, I wish I had used plain white cardstock for the sentiment/speech bubble and had moved the Fish-head man so that he was "standing' on the bottom of the mat.

Live in Harmony

Instructions:
  1. Create a 5½" square card from grey cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Cut a piece of Bristol Paper or other water-friendly cardstock to 6½" square and place it onto a magnetic or craft mat. 
  3. Place the Entwined Butterflies Stencil over the paper and secure with magnets and/or low-tack tape. 
  4. Use 5/8" Stencil Brushes to stipple ConfettiBlue LagoonViolet Chalk, and Sundance Elements Inks over the stencil onto the image panel. 
  5. Use a water-filled Fine Spray Miste to mist water over the panel while the stencil is still in place. 
  6. Trim the stenciled background to 5¼" square and heavily edge it with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink
  7. Adhere the background panel to the reserved 5½" square grey card.
  8. Choose patterned papers from the Grunge Mid Tones 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad and the Ink Drops - Vivid 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad to match the colors of the stenciled background panel.
  9. Use Nocturne and Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to stamp the butterflies from the Antisocial Butterfly Clear Polymer Stamp Set onto the patterned papers. 
  10. Fussy-cut the patterned paper butterflies and edge them with black or grey markers. 
  11. Adhere the fussy-cut stamped patterned paper butterflies to the card's front and use fine line markers to add antennae. 
  12. Choose a sentiment from the Uplifting Sentiment Stickers 6 and adhere it to the bottom right of the card front as shown. 
  13. Use a Quickie Glue Pinpoint Roller Pen to add sequins to the card as a finishing touch.

Instructions:
  1. Create a square card from Comodore Blue cardstock.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the Steampunk Butterfly from the TS074 Cling Mounted Stamp Set  twice —  once onto a white panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. 
  3. Use Copic markers to color the butterfly on the image panel.
  4. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask.
  5. Brush or sponge Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink over the masked image onto the image panel. 
  6. Place the image panel onto the STAY-tion.
  7. Place the PS252 Stencil over the image panel so that the perimeter of the clock on the stencil is enclosing the masked butterfly. Secure with low tack tape and/or magnets.
  8. Brush or sponge Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink over the stencil and the masked image onto the image panel.
  9. Remove the masks and use Y Copic markers to color the openings on the left side of the butterfly. 
  10. Trim the image panel to 5⅞" square and edge with the Spiced Marmalade Distress ink.
  11. Use the Spiced Marmalade Distress ink and the PS080 Stencil  to add stenciled butterflies and dragonflies onto the corners of the panel. Use Copic markers to add details to the centers of the insects. 
  12. Adhere the card front to the reserved 6" square blue card.

Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Color Challenge 198

Instructions:
  1. Create an A6 card from rust/terracotta cardstock. Set aside.
  2. Back a piece of rust glossy-finish patterned paper from the Engine Room 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad with 2" wide Sookwang tape and adhere it to a piece of black chipboard.
  3. Back a piece of darker rust/black patterned paper from the Industrial 3.0 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad with 2" wide Sookwang tape and adhere it to a piece of black chipboard.
  4. Use the Voltage Bigz Die to cut both patterned paper/chipboard panels and to cut additional pieces of rust and rust/black patterned paper.
  5. Place a piece of low-tack tape sticky side up on your work surface.
  6. Select the letter dies from the ABC Thinlits Die Set to spell out "acme" and "shitometer". Place the dies cutting-side up on the tape.
  7. Back a 2" strip of turquoise textured cardstock with Sookwang tape.
  8. Place the low-tack tape with the dies, cutting-side down on the aqua cardstock.
  9. Run the tape through your die-cut machine.
  10. Adhere the letter die-cuts for "acme" and "shitometer" to the circle portion of the voltage die-cut as shown.
  11. Use a 2 ⅛" circle die to cut beige-ish patterned paper and adhere to the back of the circular frame die-cut.
  12. Adhere the arc-shaped patterned paper die-cut from Step 3 in the aperture of the circular frame die-cut.
  13. Add "0", "5", and "10" rubons to the beige-ish patterned paper as shown.
  14. Die-cut a scrap of turquoise cardstock with the arrow/pointer part of the Voltage Die.
  15. Adhere the turquoise arrow/pointer die-cut to the circular frame die-cut.
  16. Adhere the circular frame die-cut to the square base die-cut.
  17. Adhere the nuts/bolt combination to the four corners to complete the "shitometer" voltage meter.
  18. Layer a strip of copper diamond-plate patterned paper atop a 4 ¼" x 6" piece of turquoise patterned paper to create the background panel. 
  19. Edge the background panel with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink.
  20. Pounce an anti-static pouch onto a piece of rust patterned paper then secure the paper onto the base of a stamping platform with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
  21. Position the Giveashitometer Sentiment Clear Stamp facedown on the patterned paper.
  22. Press the lid of the platform onto the back of the sentiment stamp and lift.
  23. Ink the stamp with VersaMark Ink and stamp.
  24. Remove the patterned paper from the stamping platform, add black detail embossing powder, pour the excess powder back into the ep container, and heat set.
  25. Trim the patterned paper and edge with Nocturne VersaFine Clair.
  26. Cut a panel of copper diamond-plate patterned paper so that it's ¼" larger than the embossed patterned paper.
  27. Mat the sentiment with the copper plate patterned paper.
  28. Adhere the matted sentiment, the shitometer die-cut, and nuts/bolts die-cuts to the background panel as shown.
  29. Adhere the background panel to the reserved card.

Greetings! It's Saturday, so it's time to share a project created for Funky Fossil Designs! I am an aging hippie who likes to make encouragement cards, so I decided to make one with the Feeling Groovy Bundle, which includes the A5 Hippy Chick Clear Stamp Set (out of stock on its own), the Feeling Groovy 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad, and the Stay Groovy 6x6 Stencil. Instructions:
  1. Create an A6 card from black textured cardstock and set aside.
  2. Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the hippy chick and the hamsa from the A5 Hippy Chick Clear Stamp Set included in the Feeling Groovy Bundle.
  3. Fussy-cut both images and color with Copic markers.
  4. Use the N6 and N4 Copic markers to touch up the stamping if needed.
  5. Use a white Gelly Roll gel pen to add a highlight to the Hamsa's eye.
  6. Edge both images with the Black Prisma Pen.
  7. Cut ⅞" off of both sides of the peace symbol patterned paper from the Feeling Groovy 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad which should make your patterned paper background panel measure 4¼" x 6". 
  8. Place the background paper onto the base of a stamping platform and secure with magnets and/or low-tack tape.
  9. Position the "be kind" sentiment stamp facedown on the upper left and the flower/heart stamp facedown halfway down the right side of the background panel. 
  10. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamps with Nocturne VersaFine Ink, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp if needed to achieve a good impression.
  11. Clean and dry the flower/heart stamp and reposition it facedown towards the bottom of the background panel.
  12. Press the platform's lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Ink, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp if needed to achieve a good impression.
  13. Edge the background panel with Nocturne VersaFine Ink and stamp.
  14. Adhere the background panel to the reserved black card.
  15. Adhere the colored, fussy-cut hippy chick and hamsa images as shown to finish the card.

A Halloween Memory-Dex Album Tutorial — Part 2, the Sequel

As promised, I'm back with the sequel to Tuesday's tutorial created for Topflight Stamps which showed how I created the front cover, inside front cover, and inside back cover of a Halloween Memory Dex Album which was made with a Black AALL and Create Memory Dex Album Cover. Today's tutorial will share how I created the back cover and spine of my album.

Instructions:














Step 1:
Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the witch hat from the Hocus Pocus Clear Stamp Set 570 , the potion bottle, and both ghosts from the Boosentials Clear Stamp Set 1203 onto white cardstock. Stamp the ghost pair two more times so you end up with six ghosts.














Step 2: 
Fussy-cut all the images.














Step 3:
Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the eyeball from the Be Witchingly Clear Stamp Set 950  twice — once onto white cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version.














Step 4:
Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the window from the Boosentials Clear Stamp Set 1203 onto white cardstock.














Step 5:
Use the finger-tip craft knife and scissors to fussy-cut the window as shown.

Step 6:
Use Copic markers to color the witch hat, all six ghosts, the eyeball panel, and the window. Use a black marker to edge them all. Sorry that there's no photo.

Step 7:
Use the B29 Copic marker to edge the flowers selected from the Ephemera Die-cuts 21 Pumps and Skulls set. No photo again. Oopsie.














Step 8:
Adhere the repositionable sticker eyeball over its counterpart as a mask. 

Sponge Blue Belle VersaFine Clair Ink over the masked eyeball onto the small panel and onto a 4.825" x 4.25" piece of white cardstock.

Sponge Medieval Blue then Purple DelighVersaFine Clair Inks over the larger panel, blending as you go to create the background panel for the back cover. Heat set when done.














Step 9:
Use a wavy border die to cut white cardstock. Another missed photo op!

Step 10:
Sponge Shady Lane VersaFine Clair Ink onto the wavy die-cut. Sponge Avocado VersaFine Clair Ink over the die-cut and blend. Heat set.

Step 11:
Adhere the wavy green die-cut to the base of the blue background panel.

Remove the mask from the eyeball panel. Adhere the colored window over the eyeball panel so that the eyeball is in the bottom part of the window. 

Adhere all the elements to the background panel.

Step 12:
Adhere the assembled background panel to the back cover of the album. Yep. No photo.














Step 13:
Cut a piece of black cardstock to 2" x 4.25". Layer the Boo Washi Tape 65 over the black cardstock, wrapping it around the back. Use red-liner tape and glue to adhere this piece to the spine.
